The Organisation for Young Women’s Dignity (TOFYWD) was established to uplift and restore the dignity of young women by providing community service to young women between the ages of 15 to 35 years, who are in and out of school. The Organisation’ss focal areas are gender based violence, teenage pregnancies, education for young mothers, and other related social challenges faced by young women. The vision of the organisation is to see a society where young women are valued and treated with dignity. Our mission is to empower young women with the skills, knowledge and resources they need in order to live a life worthy of honor and respect.
The main aim of the project is to address violence against women. There is an urgent need to reduce stigma around this issue, treat survivors with compassion, and dismantle the foundations of gender inequality. With narrative therapy, we will not seek to transform the person in therapy but to transform the effects of a problem. The goal is to make space between a person and their issue. This makes it possible to see how a certain concern is serving a person, rather than harming them. Narrative therapy helps people externalize an issue and helps them develop greater self-compassion.
