Agenda Feminist Media‘s longstanding history in the liberation of women in South Africa goes back to the 1980s. During this time of the struggle against apartheid, young women started South Africa’s first feminist journal in a society where patriarchy was the order of the day. Agenda, the journal became their tool. Through workshops, forums and debates the issue of the position of women in society was firmly put on the political agenda. Democracy and women’s rights became two sides of the same coin and mobilized people all over the world to come on board with the struggle against the political system in South Africa.

Agenda Feminist Media’s social media and website campaign aims to empower girls and women by amplifying their voices and experiences. The campaign focuses on raising awareness about gender-specific issues, providing educational resources, and fostering a supportive online community. It seeks to challenge stereotypes, advocate for equal opportunities, and highlight the achievements of women and girls from diverse and especially marginalised backgrounds. By leveraging digital platforms, the campaign aims to inspire and mobilise action, encourage self-advocacy, and create spaces where girls and women can connect, share their stories, and access tools for personal and collective empowerment.
