The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities was established to enable, support and enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities, to promote an all-inclusive and equitable society where the human rights of all are upheld and protected as provisioned by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities(UNCRPD) to which South Africa is a signatory, the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and the White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (WRPD) and to collaborate for social and economic inclusion of persons with disabilities through avocacy, lobbying, fundraising, awareness, research, development, service provision, innovation and partnerships.
The aim of the project is to create pathways to reduce Gender Based Violence (GBV) as well as accessible GBV services for women with disabilities as a result of their increased economic inclusion and GBV Service Provider sensitisation. The more disabled women lead economically independent lives, the less susceptible they are to GBVF.
