Shakti Empowerment was established in 2019 by Ms Jayshree Padayatchey. It was established to support and help women in impoverished communities to become empowered to drive their own economic development and be able to sustain themselves and their families.
This WVLSA project aims to assist 22 women who are victims of abuse, on how to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and to provide them with access to a Mental Health expert who specialises in dealing with women who have been abused. It also provides the women with a Capacity Building Workshop which will mobilize and motivate them to drive their own personal and economic development. This workshop will help them to realise the power that they have to drive their own development and empowerment. They will also have access to a basic community based entrepreneurship workshop.
We aim to be a catalyst for change by empowering women in rural communities and informal settlements in South Africa through facilitating the change of mindsets and personal, community and economic development, with the intention of stimulating development and empowerment where it is most needed.
