The organization was started by Chantelle and Jerome David Goliath out of the love for those less fortunate and underprivileged. Both of them coming from challenging back grounds themselves wanted to leave a different legacy behind that speaks of love, hope, opportunity and dignity.
The organisation was established to ensure that every child has an opportunity to a better education and access to the basic resources and treated fairly without and discrimination of their identity, race or colour but equality and fairness.
The overall aim is to end period poverty for young girls in under-served communities and beyond as well as the stigma of being ashamed due to menstruation, to educate on menstruation and body changes and to reduce teenage pregnancies on a national level. We want to include young boys into this program too.
New Heritage Foundation started with ending period poverty and handing out of sanitary pads but what they have found is that they needed a long term plan that will be sustainable going forward to make sure that girls remain in school during their menstrual cycle. The organisation aims to continue with their sanitary dignity drive but this project will focus more on teaching girls how to make reusable sanitary pads and continue with the education around menstruation which is also fundamentally important and including to understand how to be safe within covid time and how to access vaccines.v
The aim of the project is to impact those in disadvantaged communities, empower and equip them with skills and provide support for those that don't have access to resources and quality education. Our outreach over the years we have impacted foundation phase learners on EDC level that is based within informal settlements that has no proper infrastructures or any learning materials to help with their daily educational needs. Our other objective is advocating ending period through our educational menstrual hygiene management program for girls and women to menstruate with dignity and remain in school. We also include the boy child to end the shame on menstruation.
