WVL-South Africa works to provide funding opportunities to women’s rights organisations in South Africa working in line with the six key elements of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP):
- Promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls;
- Human dignity;
- Growth that works for everyone;
- Environment and climate action;
- Inclusive governance;
- Peace and security.
In preparation for the roll out of the WVL Grants GL conducted a baseline study on the status of the women’s movement in South Africa. The findings affirm the decision by WVL to focus the bulk of its funding on Multi-Year Core Grants for organisations with budgets of less than R1 million a year, as well as one or two Networking and Alliance Building Grants to strengthen the women’s movement. Small Rapid Response Grants will provide flexibility to address emergencies. Download our pamphlet here.
